A Tale To Tell - In Search Of Myself (pt 10)

“That’s enough!” The General hollered over the uproar of clashing bodies and horses screaming in pain. This was supposed to be a simple demonstration – a spar, but I had pulled a few fast ones on the unsuspecting men of EMO. I swung my head, piercing my serrated horns into the stomach of a stallion who wasn’t fast enough to get out of my way as I ran toward the exit.
The ring was a disaster. The floor was stained crimson with the fresh blood of my victims. I could hear their cries – I could hear them thrashing in pain as the poison from my horn destroyed their systems from the inside out. I could smell the blood, the death. It was a foul smell and it wafted all about, strengthened by the humid air. Bodies lay all about me, some without a head, some with their insides turned out, some alive and some dead.
Blood covered my coat, but not a drop of it was mine. Each and every spike on my neck was red, as were the horns that wrapped around my ears, the horns on my muzzle, and the hooks on my front knees. Of course, let’s not forget to mention the blood that stained my mouth, dripping from my sharp fangs which were extended to their full length. What is so disturbing is that, despite all of this gore, I was not set back at all. In fact, I rather enjoyed it. The power, it was enlightening!
“Cade!” The General didn’t have to say anything else as he turned to the two headed stallion who waited for their command. A smile spread on the long mouth of the stallion before he flung his head, sending a needle-like tooth flying my way. My eyes saw it before I really did (if that even makes since, I guess you have to have mechanical eyes to understand). An immediate reaction was triggered and my body ducked forward, sliding on my knees and then standing back up.
The moment I realized what had happened, I swung around to face them, deep red eyes ablaze with a maniac rage. I had initially planned on simply leaving, but if they wanted a fight, I was more than willing to repay them for the kind treatment I had received over the last few months. “Cade, Collin, I’m ashamed. I almost left without saying goodbye.”
I could see from the look on Cade’s face that he didn’t take well to missing his target. I lunged forward, jumping into a ground-covering gallop. I headed in a straight collision path with them, my head low and my horns extended. I was aiming to kill. Collin lowered his head to meet my charge and they spread their hooves out, ready for impact. While I was yet several feet from them, Cade flung his head again, sending another poisonous tooth flying my way.
My eyes reacted quickly, triggering my knees to buckle under me and then push me to the side. I moved almost gracefully, but with the ferocity of a tank. I swung my hind end toward them, still running in the front, and kicked out with my back legs. I heard a massive crack as my hooves made contact with one of their heads. A malevolent grin pulled my features as I spun around to face them once more.
It was certainly an interesting sight, seeing Cade’s head hanging limply, as if it were just a decoration on the body. Collin was groaning in pain, his eyes were wide and the whites could be seen all around them. I shook my head and snorted in disgust. Pitiful! They made out to be so tough, when they were indeed very weak. How sad, I almost felt bad to kill them… almost.
“It’s about time you are repaid for what you did to me… what you did to all of us.” My voice was low, a mere growl from deep in my chest as I circled around him, eyes glistening with delight. This was surprisingly fun. I could see the fear in his eyes as he watched me, hardly able to concentrate on me. “How’s it feel to be the weak one?”
I was drew back, about to stab him in the heart with my horn when I heard what sounded like an army approaching the ring. I grunted, glancing back. My eyes shifted to heat vision and I could see in the distance a great mass of bodies, so close to one another that I could hardly make them out. They were still a ways off, I still had time to kill – time to kill them. I turned my head and looked once more at the pitiful sight. There really was no use, they didn't deserve death anyways.
Just for the fun of it I reared up, slashing my forelegs in front of them. The knives on the end of my knees cut the surface of Collin’s neck. He whimpered in response and pulled away. I snickered, hitting the ground hard as I came back to earth. I snorted, shook my head and then took off, ramming forcefully into his shoulder as I did. Tilting my head I gave him an evil glare from the side of one eye before kicking out. My hoof came into contact with the end of his horn. He was flung backwards, falling into the dirt along with the hundreds of others I had already killed. As I took off toward the exit, my ears caught the welcoming sound of his horn snapping in two like a twig.
