The cream roan gene is a dilution exclusive to the Enkoro breed. It is an incomplete dominant gene which dilutes both red and black hair in a distinctive bottom to top pattern. It is expressed as CR for dominant and cr for recessive. It is an uncommon gene and therefore has a rarity score of 1. It is given its name because of the roan-like way that the coat is affected. The gene lightens the main part of the body but leaves the legs, face, and top line darkest, with the underbelly and other points lightest. It has two manifestations, a Heterozygous form and a Homozygous form. Each have specific qualities to look for.

Heterozygous
When there is only one Cream Roan gene, the horse is heterozygous. The gene causes the body to lighten, leaving the legs, face, and top line at the original base color. The underbelly, lowest points of the legs, throat latch, ear tips, muzzle, and eyes are always extremely light - often white. See image for examples.

Homozygous
When there are two Cream Roan genes, the horse is heterozygous. In this case the two genes make the manifestation stronger, causing it to lighten the color of the horse's coat completely. There are still similar points though. For example, the legs, head, and top line are the darkest point, but they are never as dark as the base coat would have been. The cream points are also a lot larger and lighter, spreading up the horse farther. The whole face or most of the face is always white and the lower part of the horse's legs are white. The expression of this gene varies, but there is always some part of the top line left darker. The horse will never be completely white. Darker base colors tend not to be lightened quite as much. See image for examples.

i find what you've done awesome. but, isn't hetrozygous and homozygous the other way. because 'homo' means one, and 'Hetro' means two or more. because i do gcse bio so homozygous is one gene. and hetrozygous is two different genes. at least i think its that!
