Terrel

QUEST
It had been a long and tiring night, exhaustion making your knees shake and eyes droop. With a defeated snort, you fall into a light slumber, occasionally waking up to check your surroundings for a potential threat. Soon enough, the sun began to peek over the horizon, it’s warm rays blanketing you with light. Stretching, you blink the sleep from your eyes, yawning slightly. What do you decide to do?

A] Head to the river to quench your thirst.
B] Grab a quick bite at the clearing.
C] Head out once more.

When at last the rays of the sun's light peeked through the entrance of the cave, Terrel blinked his amber eyes open to gaze out into the morning. He sighed heavily as he rocked forward and pulled himself to his hooves, shaking out his coat once he was up. After a good night's rest he felt a lot better, and gratefully his wounds on his legs seemed to be healing up really well. They'd be nothing but a memory soon enough. The muscular stallion stepped out into the sun and gazed about, taking a deep breath of the cool spring air. It was time for him to move on again, but first, he decided it would be wise to stop by the river. There was no telling how long it would be before he found good fresh water again, so he should take advantage of the ease of access while it lasted. When he reached the river he lowered his roman head to take a good long drink of the refreshing water, glancing down at his own reflection as he did so. Everything seemed so perfect. The water was so clear and calm and the air was clean with a gentle breeze in it. For once the young stallion was actually content, his ears not pinned against his head and his eyes not hardened by a scowl. Perhaps this was a good sign. At last he could relax and settle into his new life free from his sire's harsh stare.

I don't have much to say about this one. I tried a slightly different approach to the background. I don't know what I think about it yet. I don't really dislike it, but I don't love it either. I think it's partly because this bg is so empty and boring. I feel like my backgrounds haven't improved in a while. I might use a reference next time to try and study a little, see if I can get better at them.
